Kid Cudi‘s career arch has been nothing short of odd. his first two Man on the Moon LPs, which were preceded by the attention-grabbing A Kid Named Cudi, are nothing short of generational-sound-defining for plenty of twenty-somethings. Since those projects, he formed a rock band and recorded an album (WZRD), left G.O.O.D. Music (where he flourished) and, needless to say, experiemented with unfamiliar sounds on his last two projects, Indicud and Satellite Flight.

Now at 31 years old, Kid Cudi is on his sixth project, Speedin Bullet 2 Heaven, and if the singles are any indication, the pendulum isn’t swinging back to the norm. Between  “Judgmental Cunt,” “Wedding Tux,” the title track and “Confused,” we here at the DopeHouse are just that — confused. This isn’t a make-or-break project for Cudi, as we know the talent is there, but at the same time, we know he loves to experiment (and we aren’t one to tell people to stop doing that). This project comes with 18 tracks on the first side of the double-album, and the second side comes with plenty more outtakes and live sessions. But there comes a point where the anticipation for new music won’t be there. But maybe that isn’t such a bad thing.
