Although Statik Selektah announced that he will no longer release solo albums/compilations following his seventh studio release Lucky 7, he is currently working on a collaborative effort with KXNG CROOKED as Statik KXNG. Whether or not that is true remains to be seen, but every now and then Statik will show off (pun intended) his rather immense vault of tracks left on various cutting room floors.
Case in point: “Couldn’t Tell” guesting Black Thought. Perhaps inspired after listening to Black Thought wreck shop on the recent PRhyme single “Wishin’ II,” Statik reveals Tariq Trotter’s presumed contribution to Lucky 7 which ultimately never made the LP. While it’s a shame that it did not make the project, on account of it bing tough as nails, ultimately revealing the song makes one wish what other bullets Statik has in his proverbial chamber…
