A staple of New York’s renewed rap scene for years now, Kris Kasanova is unflinchingly Brooklyn to his core. The Red Hook representative (and DopeHouse mainstay) has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the most consistent musicians out now, with his projects 24K and War Paint earning many a critical acclaim.
After teasing it for months, Kris has now released his new EP The Great Escape. A seven-track concept project, the EP according to Kasanova “paints the story of a young man transitioning in life and accepting the sobering responsibilities of fatherhood while pursuing a dream.” Highlighted by the lead single, the bars-heavy “Old Jigga,” the album features contributions from Jarv Dee, Justin Ro$e, Sarah Hutchison, Crystal Caines and others.
