Terrace Martin, a longtime collaborator of Kendrick Lamar‘s and frequent producer on To Pimp A Butterfly, remixed one of the most important songs of 2015, “Alright,” into a spacious, jazzed-out tune. Martin’s version isn’t nearly as anthemic, but it’s just as emotional as he lowers the volume of the drums and brings in dragged-out synthesizers and his signature saxophone to let the words”we gon’ be alright” stand out even more than they did in the original.

Martin talked to The FADER, who premiered the remix, about the intention of spreading love when doing the remix. “This song speaks for the world. It’s pure love being poured out from a place of hope and faith,” he said. “My only goal with all my music is to help and spread good vibes. I’m just happy we are helping to push a positive energy around the world.”
