Snoop Dogg is set to drop a joint project, Cuzznz, with Daz Dillinger at the beginning of 2016, but it appears Uncle has a his sights set on more as he unveils a new modern-day sounding single, “I’m From Long Beach.”

It’s undisputed that Snoop Doggy Dogg is a legend, especially when we’re discussing those coming from the Left Coast, and he’s probably reached the status where he can put out less-than-stellar projects and it won’t affect his overall resume. Kind of like Patrick Ewing leaving the Knicks for a couple years before calling it quits. That kind of stuff is forgiven, and we all understand Ewing is still great. That’s kind of how this new single feels. Snoop is bringing himself into the modern-day rap world — kind of like how he did in the “Sexual Eruption” era, and like how Dr. Dre wonderfully did this year with Compton — only this time around, it doesn’t feel as accomplishing. “I’m From Long Beach” features some odd flows from Snoop as he boasts that he is from, of course, Long Beach. It might have to grow on me, but on the surface, Snoop’s new single feels like he’s reaching a little bit too far into 2015’s sounds.
