BJ the Chicago Kid is in the middle of curating and finishing his debut album, In My Mind. With two stellar singles, “Church” featuring Buddy and Chance the Rapper and “The Resume” featuring Big K.R.I.T., on steady repeat, the kid from Chicago helps smooth over the wait for his album with an acoustic cover of Blackstreet’s “Before I Let You Go.”

BJ handles the cover very well, as it seems to be right in his vocal range. The original features layers of harmonies from the entire Blackstreet group, which is probably most famous for its single “No Diggity,” but BJ’s cover has him simply crooning over an acoustic guitar showing off his obvious R ‘n’ B chops.

BJ the Chicago Kid’s In My Mind is slated to be released in “early 2016,” and let’s hope that much closer to January 1 than it is to anything else. Listen to the cover below.
