On December 23, King Louie was shot several times, including once in the head, and survived. He’s in the process of making a full recovery.

The Chicago rapper stopped by CNN six days after being shot to discuss the shooting and overall violence in his city.

King Louie revealed he was shot at 22 times, and seven of the bullets hit him. Three of the bullets are still in his body. (Two in his chest, one in his head.) Asked how he’s feeling, though, after being released from the hospital on his birthday (Monday)? “I feel blessed.” Don Lemon interviewed King L, where he said he was leaving a friend’s house when someone started shooting at his car. “The devil’s working overtime (in Chicago),” King Louie said. He repeated it again when Lemon asked what that means. “Evil.”

He’s worked with an organization, Chciago Ideas, that urged kids to resort to music and making money instead of guns with a song “Put The Guns Down,” too. Though visibly still shaken, it’s nice to see King L on the road to recovery. Watch the interview below.
