Philadelphian emcee Asaad has been on the DopeHouse’s radar after he was taken under the wing of TDE’s Ab-Soul. More than just a HiiiPoWeR-ed co-sign however, the rapper showcased his burgeoning talent while shining brightly on his October 2015 EP Young 27.

2016 is shaping to be Asaad’s most ambitious year yet, as he has vowed to drop a new song every single day, holidays and Leap Year included. Naturally, that is a lot to follow, so the DopeHouse will instead spotlight some of the harder-hitters such as this one, “Utopia.” Produced by Norfolk, VA’s Problem, this guitar- and piano-tinged track is loaded with dark lyrics and telltale West Coast synths which all mesh together perfectly. No hook, no drums, no problem: “Utopia” is one of the day’s best listens.
