With excellent projects from and contributions for Mélat, El Prez/PrezSport, Snoop Dogg, Dom Kennedy and a host of other West Coast mavens, SoCal-reared producer Jansport J heads home solo with the release his his latest project, blackwhitegoldville. His first project since 2014’s The Soul Provider, the 20-track and largely instrumental LP depicts a story of a young man in his transitional state:

blackwhitegoldville represents the personal growth of Jansport J over the past two years. It is by all accounts and intentions, his most personal album to date. The colors black and white symbolize the classic aesthetic, gold, a standard bearer – reinforcing the idea of forever and “ville” representing a metaphysical presence in a state of mind. The album creates a soundscape to his dealings with all aspects of his life over a period of time spent mostly in solitude, from the conscious to the subconscious realms, and his resolution in moving forward from the darkness.

With cameos from Mélat, Bee Honey and Tania DeBarros, fans and listeners can expect smooth and near-ethereal vibes that stray from the “typical” West Coast sound and instead takes an instinctive travels towards the paths of rhythm. Stream it below.
