Since hearing Noname Gypsy on Chance the Rapper’s Acid Rap mixtape, she’s caught the ear of plenty with her future collaborations with fellow Chicago up-and-comers, including Chance, Mick Jenkins and Saba. With her Telefone project looming, she returns with her first new song of the new year, “All I Need” featuring SPZRKT.
“All I Need” features a self-reflective look on her personal qualities that stem to her relationships. While some claim all they need from Noname, who consistently flows to her own drum contrary to what the production may force many to conform to, is a little bit of love, that comes after they deliver a laundry list of qualities they want her to change about herself. But to she, Noname is confidently accepting. Enhanced by the hook, it may not be how she wants herself to be, but “it’s just how I need it.”
Listen to “All I Need,” produced by Saba, THEMpeople and Phoelix, below.
