A few days ago, Yasiin Bey was arrested in South Africa for violating local immigration laws while trying to leave the country, allegedly overstaying on their visitor’s permit and using something called a “world passport.” Since then, he has been detained in Cape Town and he and his family have been given 14 days to leave the country. Since the report, the artist formerly known as Mos Def has remained silent… until now.

In a long voicemail left to Kanye West, Bey has given a status update on his situation, at times rapping (and dissing) South Africa as a government, country and a crew using the same cadence as West’s “No More Parties In LA“). In the near-11 minute message, Yasiin also stated that he will retire from both the music and Hollywood worlds “effective immediately,” and that his final album will arrive sometime this year.

Yasiin closed out his voicemail by rapping various lyrics he’s performed for West shortly before his first child, North, was born. Listen to the entire thing below.
