Over the past couple months, Akon has begun a comeback to music. Since 2008’s Freedom, one of the leaders of 2000s radio has quietly delivered music, focusing more on his humanitarian and philanthropic efforts. In 2015, Akon released “Stick Around” and “Whole Lot” featuring Migos, probably to test the reaction to making a comeback. The latest leak from his catalog — a collaboration with Future — might get the warmest reaction yet.

Lasting just over four minutes, the St. Louis-born singer remixes “Forever,” which was originally released in 2013, with one of the game’s hottest current acts. Future could’ve recorded his contribution, which is a quick verse full of over-the-top love and adornment and bookended by two of Akon’s original verses, back in ’13 and placed in the vaults for a later date. Either way, a collaboration between Akon and Future isn’t something to bat an eye at.
