At this point, it’s highly suggested that producer Cardo work exclusively with artists who are from California. His syrupy, slow-burning grooves seem inspired by Compton legend DJ Quik, and he tends to pull the absolute best out of Los Angeles artists (Ty Dolla $ign’s wonderfully vulgar “When I See Ya,” for example). So, it’s almost a natural fit that he has teamed with rising Vallejo star Nef The Pharaoh for a new project, Neffy Got Wings.
Coming in at 10 tracks, Neffy features the likes of Ty$, Philthy Rich, Mozzy, Eric Bellinger, and others. With the E-40 signee currently on tour with G-Eazy and A$AP Ferg and riding high with the success of his breakout single “Big Tymin’,” the combination of Nef and Cardo could prove to be a successful one.
