In their latest episode of “Sneaker Shopping,” Complex hits the store with Don C, a designer and one of Kanye West’s closest creative collaborators and friends.
Growing up in Chicago during the Michael Jordan era, shoes (specifically the Nike Air Jordans) were of great importance to Don C, the city and his culture. He went down a list of Air Jordans (from the fourth installment to the first) telling stories of what each shoe meant to him, when they came out and what milestone moment occurred for Michael Jordan while wearing the shoes. In the end, Don C wound up buying seven pairs of shoes, some new, some repeats, for a shade over $3,000. Chump change.
I am no Master of Shoe, but you can tell Don C knows the deep history of the kicks he’s talking about, which he later used as influence for his own signature shoes with Jordan Brand.
