When a music legend like David Bowie passes, artists across all genres react and mourn in their own way. Some tell stories, some preach influence, but some dare to take on the songs that are held to the highest esteem. At a recent performance in Los Angeles, Miguel did the latter, taking on one of Bowie’s most famous tunes, “Space Oddity.”

Using it as a segue into a performance of “Waves,” Miguel proved he without a doubt has the chops to do “Space Oddity” justice. As Complex points out, Miguel recently praised Bowie in an interview with NME:

“I wish I would’ve written ‘Space Oddity’ by David Bowie. That song is just forever going to be classic, ya know? At the time, are you kidding me. We were just going to the moon. It’s just insane. The timing of it.”

Are you kidding me, indeed.
