Yesterday marked a very special day for Hip-Hop fans around the world, as does every Feb. 7th. It’s a day where we honor the life and times of two artists, who – without a doubt in anyone’s minds – are considered legends by pure definition.
Bronx bomber, New York icon and your favorite emcee’s favorite emcee Christopher Rios, bka Big Pun sadly passed away 16 years ago yesterday. The Terror Squad lyricist and D.I.T.C. affiliate undoubtedly left behind quite an extraordinary legacy, both through his perfect discography, and through his son, Chris Rivers.
The day also marked one James Dewitt Yancey‘s birthday, and also celebrated the 10th anniversary of #DillaDay, or as it’s being affectionately called these days, #DillaWeekend. Throughout the years since 2006, the festive celebration which draws in some of the most elite rappers in the game has been held in Detroit, Los Angeles and Miami. The latter which happened to go down this past weekend.
