Chaka Khan is the epitome of a living legend. With a catalog spanning four decades, her music has played an instrumental role in the shaping of what is now the most popular music out: hip hop. And, on a personal note, seeing her live has been on my bucket list for years.
Although she has not released any new music in years (her last album, Funk This, was released in 2007), she returns with a new song — with a great cause — in the form of “I Love Myself.” A part of an anti-bullying campaign, proceeds from “Love” will go towards the non-profit organizations
Face Forward and STOMP Out Bullying. “”It is important that in these troubled times we honor our own self-respect,” says Khan. “Beauty knows no boundaries and is accepting of us all whether black, white, gay, straight, physically or mentally challenged.”
