Monday night, Troy Ave delivered “BAD ASS,” a diss song aimed at fellow New York native Joey Bada$$. While I don’t know the inner workings of their relationship, the two seem to never have gotten along very well. As Complex points out, Bada$$ recently said, “My nigga Kirk just outsold Troy Ave,” on “Ready,” which dropped last week.
Troy Ave’s song is dedicated entirely to Bada$$ and Pro Era, even coming at one of the clique’s fallen members, Capital Steez: “Don’t be suicidal like your friend in the casket, Steez burning in hell.” Even though he’s 30 sound like 17, Troy Ave flowed pretty well and his intentions are clear on “BAD ASS” and, all in all, the track works well if he’s really looking to start some shit with Joey.
