We’re going to get some awesome biopics pretty soon. After getting the first sneak peek at the Miles Davis film starring Don Cheadle, we get the first trailer for a Nina Simone biopic with Zoe Saldana playing the title role.
Nina will, according to IMDb, follow “the story of the late jazz musician and classical pianist Nina Simone including her rise to fame and relationship with her manager Clifton Henderson.” The film also stars David Oyelowo, who has also starred in Selma and The Last King Of Scotland. He’ll play Henderson, her manager/assistant.
The biopic follows the stellar Nina Simone documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone?, that debuted on Netflix in 2015. Watch the trailer for Nina below. The film arrives April 22.
