West Coast music, despite its variations from Kenrdick Lamar’s jazz- and soul-fused lyricism to YG’s G-Funk-reared gangsta sensibilities, will forever maintain that distinctive sound that is undeniably familiar. E-40 has been a long-running and well-respected ambassador of this song, crafting jams for generations of families; in short, there is a high chance that, if you are a California-residing resident your parent has been bumping 40 Water’s music since before you were even conceived.

40 has taken the role of a mentor now, taking Nef The Pharaoh under his wing and guiding him throughout his burgeoning career. The two — alongside fellow riser D.R.A.M. — let loose a video for their collaborative track from E-40’s upcoming project The D-Boy Diary. This is pure West Coast sonics, and could potentially be a staple at accompanying house parties during the (always) warm months of the year in California. Speaking of which, West Coast house parties > *insert other region*’s house parties.
