Doomtree member P.O.S returns with his first solo single in years with “sleepdrone/superposition” featuring a slew of collaborators. Today is two-year anniversary of Minneapolis native’s successful kidney transplant, which unfortunately halted his career for the better part of three years, and his new song is an explosive and determined return to the scene.

“sleepdrone/superposition,” which has features from Allan Kingdom, Astronautalis, Eric Mayson, Kathleen Hanna, Hard_R, Lydia Liza, Lizzo, and Nicholas L. Perez, has P.O.S recollecting on the struggles of his health issues and their affect on his personal and music life. “I tried to write a note to everyone who came out and supported me when my kidney couldn’t clean up my poisonous blood, but I just stared at the page,” he spit, as the taste of blood rolled over his tongue throughout the recovery.

In an email, P.O.S described the song as containing themes of “being black, beefs, loves, hurts, victories, pride and the future.” It’s been a long process, but he’s finally healthy and back, and the hunger is on full display on “sleepdrone/superposition.” P.O.S also revealed he planned on Open Mike Eagle, Aesop Rock and others to appear on the song, but “getting this song to flow right was key.”
