Today (March 9, 2016) marks nineteen years since the tragic passing of one of hip hop’s greatest artists, Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace. However, rather than mourn the loss artists are celebrating his life and times. Maino and Lil Kim — who have collaborating quite a bit lately — connect once again for “I Did It For Brooklyn.”
This song really isn’t a straight tribute to Biggie, aside from the obvious connections (Lil Kim’s career came courtesy of B.I.G., Maino hails from Bedford-Stuyvesant) and the cover art. But with most of my non-gentrified neighbors already blasting his music out of my window I can overlook those slights.
