With iLoveMakonnen‘s Drink More Water 6 set to arrive Friday, the Atlanta artist stopped by Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show to debut “Solo.”
Makonnen told Lowe the message behind the song is: “You get out there and do it solo if no one wants to ride with you. … You can strike out and do it solo if you don’t get the support you need.” The “Sellin” singer/rapper said that he had a studio session, and after recording about five songs, a couple collaborators were beat. So to show them he could make songs with or without them, he started singing the hook of his new song: “Riding in my low-low with no one beside me/I could do it solo if nobody’s riding/I could do it solo/I could do it solo.”
We’ll see what else Drink More Water 6 has to offer Friday.
