Before we get started here, let’s do a quick headcount of what us spoiled comic book geeks are receiving by the Gods in 2016. On the film tip, we’ve already been blessed with Deadpool, and in the next few days, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will lay out the roadmap to Justice League, followed by Captain America: Civil War (May 6th), X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27th), Suicide Squad (Aug. 5th) and Doctor Strange on Nov. 4th.

On the small screen side of things, the second half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. just started airing (ABC), while DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow and The Flash (CW) are either wrapping up their current seasons or are wading through the tail-end of their mid-seasons, Supergirl (CBS) is crossing over with The Flash, Vertigo’s Lucifer is wowing fans on FOX, while Preacher will premiere on AMC May 22nd. Add to the excitement season 2 of Daredevil and it’s a safe bet that even the most extroverted comic book fan will become a recluse with all the binge watching that will start to become a normal, daily routine.

Now, come September 30th, Marvel and Netflix will unveil the first season of Luke Cage. The Hero For Hire made his presence known in season 1 of Jessica Jones — and is an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Portrayed by Mike Colter — Luke Cage, aka Power Man — the man with unbreakable skin, will help set things up for both the upcoming Iron Fist series as well as The Defenders. The latter of whom may actually find themselves battling Thanos alongside The Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War.
