BJ the Chicago Kid rode the wave of success from In My Mind to SXSW this last week, where he sat down for a quick interview with Complex News. During the discussion, he talked about working with Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Stevie Wonder and more big-time artists. When asked what the main lesson learned from studio sessions with the aforementioned, he said, “good energy. … From myself and from those around me. … That’s the beginning of winning recipes.”
He went on to talk about his year thus far, some modern musicians who actively inspire him (Anderson .Paak, Ty Dolla $ign) and his dream collaboration. (Hint: it’s an artist who every one in the world wants to work with. Hint 2: He’s one half of Outkast. Hint 3: He’s got four digits in his name.)
