Ten years ago today, Murs and 9th Wonder reconnected to follow-up their critically-acclaimed debut Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition with 2006’s Murray’s Revenge.
It’s crazy to think it’s been a decade since Revenge dropped. It feels like yesterday I was running the halls of my final “job” as a master of the custodial arts (or a janitor, if you wanna be a dick about it) at this church/daycare with both LPs getting burn on the iPod Zune Creative Zen.
I remember celebrating the hometown with “L.A.” Sharing my first “Barber Shop” experience with Murs and Rapper Big Pooh. Laughing at past girlfriends who fucked up and left before it was my time (“Silly Girl”). But most of all, I remember “Yesterday & Today” helping me get through tough times—and still does to this day.
Since Murray’s Revenge, Murs and 9th Wonder have went on to release four more projects—Sweet Lord, Fornever, The Final Adventure, and most recently Brighter Daze . All dope, but there’s something about the first two albums that will forever hold a special place in my heart. And with that, I’d like to say thanks to Murs and 9th Wonder on providing the masses with an abundance of quality music over the years.
