Budding Canadian talent Ramriddlz first appeared to the masses when Drake grabbed his song “Sweeterman” and remixed it on the first episode on OVO Sound Radio on Apple Music last summer. Since, he’s been building his mysterious persona while working on his impending Venis EP, which officially dropped Friday.

With features from Justine Skye, the Mississauga native delivers nine songs ridden with light island and dancehall vibes mixed with the inaudible, melodic crooning/autotune that’s taken a stronghold in modern hip-hop music. The closest comparison I can draw is Post Malone with an obvious influence from Young Thug, but Ramriddlz has a bit more liveliness that the “White Iverson” singer, which will pay off when he’s expected to deliver more than a singular hit in his career — and with a Drake co-sign and a sound to compete with the popular tunes of today, it’s bound to happen.
