I first heard of Moses Sumney a couple weeks ago with the remix to Hundred Waters’ “Show Me Love” with Skrillex and Chance the Rapper, and I’m disappointed in myself for taking so long. His gorgeous crooning came in company with the warping, explosive melodies of the beat between Nicole Miglis’ opener and Chance’s stunting addition, and he helped elevate the song from an enjoyable remix to grand, repeatable tune. He also gave reason to follow his next moves.

The Cali singer delivered a new song today called “Everlasting Sigh,” which capitalized on the joyful and melodic vibes from our introduction to him. Sumney wraps lyrics empowerment and escaping life’s crutches — “If vultures can be songbirds, let it die,” he sings — with tribal drums and harmonies, hand claps and a ranging vocal performance. Just press play below and start smiling as you play it over and over. Enjoy your afternoon.
