Pro Era member Kirk Knight was an indirect catalyst in the war of words between Troy Ave and Joey Bada$$ when the latter quipped “My [boy] Kirk just outsold Troy Ave” on “Ready.” Nonetheless, the Brooklyn native, whose own solo debut album Late Night Special is out now, is unfazed by the shenanigans and continues to push on with his self-produced single “Take That.”

Kirk describes the song as “Ending a chapter in creativity to open a new one.” While some armchair critics may inexplicably think that is a shot at Harry Powder, the bass-laden slow burn of “Take That” in fact has nothing to do with beef. Kirk declares, “I don’t ever need an entrance,” as he is fully capable of marking his own territory.
