Surprise!

To say that Royce 5’9″ is on a run right now would do the man a severe injustice. It first kicked off when he formally reunited with his “Boom” x “Something 2 Ride 2” x “Street Hop” x “Shake This” (and a host of other songs) co-conspirator DJ Premier on 2014’s PRhyme (and its 2015 re-up/deluxe edition)—in which Nickel showcased a newfound level of dense lyricism and raw honesty stemming from his newfound change in and lease on life.

Following the announcement that he would release his sixth studio album, he warmed things up with the surprise EP Tabernacle: Trust The Shooter—which were the tracks that we left on the cutting room floor for Layers.

Now Royce has decided to reveal his new album, Layers, a few days earlier than expected. The highly-anticipated album is peppered with features from the likes of Pusha T, Rick Ross, Nottz, DJ Khalil, dEnAuN, Jake One, and others. Like its predecessors, Royce’s verses are at its sharpest and he’s sounding better than ever.
