I was on record a couple weeks ago that 2016 would be the year of the Pretty Ricky comeback. I said it half joking, half serious, because some friends and I were doing a little reminiscing while driving to Ft. Lauderdale one night. “Your Body” played multiple times. “On The Hotline” once or twice. “Call Me” got spun. We stayed away from “Grind On Me,” because we were five dudes in a very close space and it probably wouldn’t have made sense for us to all start gyrating all over our friend’s mom’s car.
I didn’t know at the time the main singing quarter of Pretty Ricky, Spectacular, was planning on making a comeback, though. As expected, the song tries to fit into the popular radio sound of today, and that’s pushed by features from Tory Lanez and Rich Homie Quan alongside a verse from Compton Menace.
If I had any guess, this probably won’t be the last time you heard this if you frequent the clubs or listen to the radio often, but if you don’t hear it again, I’m sure you won’t be all too sad.
