It’s still surreal to wake up and realize that Prince has passed away. Pop culture, Black music, and society in general has been greatly devastated from the loss of the seemingly immortal musician, and there will no doubt be a gaping hole left behind in his wake. While the world continues to mourn, fellow artists such as The Game have taken to paying homage to the fallen legend.

DJ Premier has taken an alternative route with his tribute to Prince Rogers Nelson. Taking to his weapons of choice, the turntables, Primo spent an hour celebrating his life, legacy, and influence as he spun Prince’s classics, as well as some unreleased beats and DJ only B-Sides. Premier also left the following message:

“I want to salute one of the greatest artists in the world, the artist known as Prince. The guideline that shaped me musically consists of approximately ten people, James Brown, Michael Jackson and Prince are all equally my number ones; it’s a three way tie. Because of Prince, I will take any dare and survive the dare! My manager Ian threw the idea (for the tribute mix) at me late last night and I said let’s do it; so we plugged in and did it (real DJ’s do real things)! I should’ve done three hours instead of one. It was unscripted and unrehearsed, but the outcome obviously touched my soul and I hope it does the same for you. Rest In Purple Prince.”
