TOKiMONSTA – “Giving Up” f. Jonny Pierce (Video)

Cali producer TOKiMONSTA released her Fovere EP — which featured another stellar collaboration between her and Anderson .Paak — at the beginning of March. One of the project’s more soothing and beautiful tracks (despite its theme of waiving the white flag on a relationship) was “Giving Up,” and now it’s gotten the visual treatment.

The video follows the story of a man fighting to get a relationship back. After seeing his woman’s new man on television (he sells a dream machine for a living — there’s a cool metaphor in there somewhere), he embarks on a journey to win her back over only to be met by a tense meeting at the dinner table. Unable to see her with another man, the protagonist lashes out leaving the woman to dip out, because, well, she doesn’t deserve that type-a shit. But in the end, is any party really happy with the outcome?

TOKiMONSTA talked to The FADER, who premiered the visual, about the how the collaboration between the two came about:

“His music has always been inspiration to me, though we are probably seen as artists that exist in different areas of the musical spectrum. Us being able to work together signifies that breaking barriers can result in some pretty cool stuff.”
