That somber, scraggly, moody version of JMSN has been replaced. And frankly, nothing is wrong with that at all.

Fans should have noticed that almost instantly, when he shed his trademark shoulder-length hair and fans could fully see his face for the first time. If it wasn’t that, it was definitely the more upbeat (or, “less dark” at least) tunes he’s released: “Hypnotized,” “Cruel Intentions,” and “Most Of All.” If that wasn’t an indication, it was the awkward soft shoe dance moves JMSN is wont to bust out in his videos.

He has now released his third album, It Is. A 13-track outing, It Is is steeped in the roots of the 90s-era R&B sounds, as well as the soul sounds of the past. Don’t get it twisted, Christian Berishaj still sings about melancholy and personal struggles. However, his spirits seem a bit lifted throughout the project as well. It’s almost as if he knows that, despite the issues, everything is still going to be all right. And frankly, nothing is wrong with that at all.
