As dope as Lloyd is, the singer has had quite the roller coaster ride of a career.

After breaking out in 2004 with Southside, the New Orleans kept the momentum rolling with Street Love (“You” with Lil Wayne, “You (Remix)” with André 3000 and Nas, “Get It Shawty”) in 2007, before plateauing the following year with Lessons In Love. Then, following a split with Murder Inc., he was back at it with the Polow Da Don-helmed King Of Hearts (“Dedication To My Ex” with André 3000 and Lil Wayne, “Lay It Down,” “Be The one” with Trey Songz and Young Jeezy) in 2011.

Now, after a five year hiatus, Lloyd returns with a redemptive new single called “TRU.”

“I lost it all,” he says on the intro. “My friends, my loved ones. But in life there’s always a chance to grow from the struggle, from the pain, from the realness. Here’s my story.”
