As well as his posthumous album with Nas/Mass Appeal The Diary, another album from the vaults of J Dilla has formally been released: Jay Love Japan. Featuring remastered tracks from the catalog such as “Sun In My Face,” another formerly-unreleased track “Baby” lands on the project as a bonus offering.
Witnessing a resurgence of these Dilla tracks is a reminder of how exceptional an artist he was, albeit bittersweet as 2017 will mark the tenth anniversary of his tragic death. With various legends seemingly passing more frequently, it’s best to remember them while they are still alive.
