Some people are confused as to why Kendrick Lamar would align himself with Reebok rather than, say, Nike or Adidas like some of his contemporaries. While Corn Row Kenny explained that his deal enables him to give back to the community, I’d like to think that part of the reason he signed with them is due in part to Reeboks being one of the more prevalent kicks in the hood for those who could not afford to drop over $100 on some Jordans (only to have them gracefully removed via stick-up… or worse).
Dot and Reebok will follow up their initial debut, a special edition of The Ventilator silhouette, with a new take on another model: the Kendrick Lamar Classic Leather. He has again teamed with director Colin Tilley (they recently collaborated on the video for “Alright“) for a spot for the shoe, in which Kendrick delivers a brief spoken word piece on self-expression.
