Us bloggers, we make mistakes sometimes. Whether it’s through missing or setting an email aside for a bit, or just straight up missing a song, we make the mistake of missing out on stellar music. But it’s times like these where we make up for it.

Khalid is a singer from El Paso, Texas. On first play of his new single, “Location,” he sounds a bit like a mix between Aloe Blacc and themind, all blanketed with his own brand of soul.

With minimalistic, ambient production from Syk Sense, Tunji Ige and Smash David as a backdrop, the 18-year-old — yes, this dude’s only 18 — delivers soothing and atmospheric vibes, dealing with a very raw and simple relationship quality: communication. All Khalid needs is a time and place, and he’ll meet up and hash out whatever needs to be hashed out.

Self-described as “a song for the soul,” listen to “Location” below.
