Despite being a resident of Copenhagen, Denmark for the past 10+ years, Maylay Sparks — fka Rahsheed is proud to call the city of Philadelphia home.

Maylay describes how he acquired his new alias, stating that fellow City of Brotherly Love producer Baby Blak bestowed upon him the moniker Rah Maylay “because I was total chaos and I spark a lot. So, Maylay Sparks it became.” And judging by his past discography, Maylay certainly lives by those same attributes.

Throughout his 18 year career, Maylay has formed alliances with some of the underground’s mightiest lyricists and producers, including the Snowgoons, Philly legend the Last Emperor, Cali Agent #1 (Rasco) and The Artifacts’ El Da Sensei.

Those same iconic emcees have blessed Maylay with some incredible verses on his new album, The Rebel’s Renaissance, coupled with boom bap-heavy production from Koolade, DJ Connect, Sakke, and Ruzbeatz.
