I was JUST saying how 2 Chainz is having one of the hottest 2016s of anyone in the rap game. After evidence further mounted with his appearance on Kanye’s Cruel Winter single (his breakout party to the mainstream was on Cruel Summer‘s “Mercy”), it turned out another verse popped up just a bit earlier in the morning, guesting on Statik Selektah‘s new tune, “Smoke Break.”
“If I happen to brag, it’s accepted by the culture,” he raps, summing up why 2 Chainz has made it so damn far so late in his career: he can brag about his riches and affluence along with the best of them, but there’s a sense of humility that comes along with it. As to why anyone wasn’t on the 2 Chainz bandwagon after Based On A T.R.U. Story, hopefully 2016 has helped you realize Tity Boy’s genius.
