The Next Gorillaz Album Will Drop In 2017, Will Be “Really F*ckin’ Special”

blame it on Patrick Glynn June 13, 2016

At the end of last year, we got word the Gorillaz — an animated electronic band made up of music by Damon Albarn and illustrations by Jamie Hewlett — were working on an album with a tentative release date of 2016. The album would be their first in five years.

Quiet since the announcement, the Gorillaz fan page on Instagram shared news as a fan talked to Hewlett about the upcoming album. The page said Hewlett told the fan the next album will be “really fuckin special” and that it wouldn’t drop until 2017.

So while I’d love to read into Hewlett saying the album would be “really fuckin special,” I wouldn’t expect him to say much less. The real news lies in the fact the album won’t come out until 2017 now, which is fine, though it would’ve added to an already-batshit-crazy 2016. Now let’s just hope we aren’t getting a similar type of message from Hewlett in 2017.

WE GOT JAMIE NEWS! This here is HIM and our friend Linda. JAMIE says new GORILLAZ is special, really fuckin special. Can’t be rushed. 2017, yo. Fuck. So, guys, that Gorilla Fund, we got time. Go shop, take vacation, that shit aint happening this year. BUT its gonna be all that and more. And….Jamie follows us. So….you got something to say to him and don’t wanna get yelled at on his IG by his very serious followers, say it here! HE IS HERE. Watching, reading and digging it. He loves this account and appreciates our repping. #JamieHewlett #JamieSaid #ThoseWords #FuckinAye #Gorillaz #Gorillaz2017 #ThisIsNotOurFace #WeTookThePic #HalfOfUsWasThere #OtherHalfInMontreal #Explanations #DidWeMention #JamieWasMadCool #Animated #Friendly #GangstaToo #HisShow #HisArt #SoCool #Go #IfYouCan
