Although we haven’t heard any music from Ne-Yo this year, that doesn’t mean the man hasn’t been busy.
In fact, 2016 might just be the most important year of Shaffer Smith’s life. Not only did he marry his fiancé Crystal Williams, he also welcomed a new son, Shaffer Chimere Jr., into the world!
Feeling the love (and surely a way to avoid label politics), the gifted singer/songwriter has created a semi-unauthorized SoundCloud channel where he can share music directly to the fans.
And for his first release, Ne-Yo revisits his wedding day and unearths “TWO”—the very song he attempted to sing to Crystal during the ceremony.
“It expresses a love that makes you feel like the only two people on the planet,” Ne-Yo shared. “The only two opinions, the only two ideas, the only two hearts and mind. I hope you all find a love like this one day… This is the song I attempted to sing to my wife on our wedding day. If you saw the video, you know it didn’t go well. LOL. Emotions and all that. This is a song that expresses a love that makes the opinion of others mean even LESS than they actually do. For in TRUE love the only opinions that matter… are TWO.”
