In a world full of rappers making music for the primary purpose of money (which, there’s nothing wrong with that), Nick Grant feels he’s one of few who’ve returned to the old-school thought of making hip-hop music for the love of it.

So as a quasi-response to not making this year’s XXL Freshman list — a list that once propped up the best up-and-coming rappers on a pedestal — the Atlanta rapper delivers “For Love.”

“Never mad about what made me rich/I’m getting to much money to be mad about a list,” he starts the tune before delving into deep goals an issues than making or not making a list of other buzzing artists. Joined by Dominic Gordon on the hook (who adds some James Fauntleroy-esque vocal effects to his contribution), press play on “For Love” below.
