IceRocks, a longtime collaborator and producer for Meyhem Lauren (peep bangers such as “Critical Thinking” off Laurenovich’s Raw Cashmere on Chopped Herring) joins Los Angeles emcee XP (the Marxman) for a coast-uniting banger, “No Doubt Son.”
Heavy on 90s boom-bap flavor (check the Mobb Deep sample, with the dense bassline intermittently giving off nostalgic Cypress Hill/Tha Alkaholiks vibes), this collaborative single is loaded with references to each artist’s respective cities, and, although suited for one of those dreary, cold New York City winters, still seems to fit in with the current climate — both literally and figuratively. Hopefully this is just a small taste of what’s to come.
