Although recorded long before the recent chain of events involving police violence, the story behind the making of the video for RJ‘s “Flex” is more relevant than ever.
The Cali rapper sets off the visual with a short PSA, including “When you don’t have kids hanging out on the street, there’s no one to shoot or do the shooting. Except the police” followed by an explanation of how five plus squad cars were called in to break up what they (the police) considered “gang gathering,” where everyone was forced to leave.
Of course, being the G that he is, RJ stood his ground, opting to stay.
