DJ Drama Talks Role In Drake & Meek Mill’s Beef, New-Age Rap & More w/ Hot 97

blame it on Patrick Glynn July 12, 2016

In less than two weeks, DJ Drama will drop Quality Street Music 2, set to feature damn near half the rap game from Lil Wayne to T.I. to Jeezy to Young Thug. So for some pre-promotion, the iconic DJ stopped by Hot 97 to catch up.

During the interview, the group talked to Drama about his role in the Drake and Meek Mill beef (after a couple minutes of trying to get Drama to talk about the situation himself), the current age of hip-hop, including his artist Lil Uzi Vert, who came by Hot 97 once and refused to rap over a DJ Premier beat because it wasn’t his flavor, and more.

As a DJ visiting a room full of DJs, it’s interesting to listen to their conversations take the perspective of their roles in hip-hop, as opposed to us hearing rappers hop in front of the mic for an interview. Watch the 30-minute interview above. Quality Street Music 2 is out July 22.
