Noah Caine was supposed to drop his Everything’s Gon’ Hurt back in June, but this being the rap world and all, it experienced some delays (evidence by the assumed lead single, “Missed Connections,” no longer landing on the tracklist). The EP will officially arrive tomorrow, though, on iTunes and Spotify, but we’ve got you with an early listen.

Everything’s Gon’ Hurt lands at five songs — two produced by Half Amazin’ and the other three from Juleus Savage — with no features.

The Queens native said the project is “a snapshot of the things relevant to me & my peers literally right now at this point in time in our day to day lives,” which is highlighted on the first song, “Flex,” a delicate, jazzy tune about trying to escape the struggle despite larger influences (i.e. police, the devil) trying to do the opposite.

These journeys of ours are bittersweet. Success comes with failures. Dreams come with worries, anxieties & heartbreaks. Pride comes with insecurities. I have to stay grounded while always reminding myself, as well as the people around me, to not get too comfortable because when you stop and think about it, you start to realize that everything’s gon’ hurt. And in some ways, even that thing we chase called success.
