Although Yasiin Bey announced that in 2016 he will retire from both music and Hollywood, much to his fans’ surprise and delight he’s (perhaps ironically) released more music throughout the year than he has in the last two combined. He has released another song under Dec 99th (his collaborative works with Ferrari Sheppard), “HYMN.”
“Condolences to the families of the slain. Never stop pursuing freedom,” the former Mos Def leaves for his fans. The song is Bey as his most pristine, delivering solemn yet passionate bars concerning the various social issues of today. If this is what retirement is for Yasiin, then by all means keep it going.
