While Rome Clientel has been bubbling underground for some time now, the Elmira, New York emcee left his indelible stamp on the rap world in April of 2012 when he opened up his vault and let loose his Just Blaze-produced banger, “Warzone,” recorded circa 1997.

Since then, Rome has played an integral role in the one-producer, one-emcee duo known as Dirt Disciples alongside The Bash Brothers’ own DJ Concept. Together, the two released their self-titled debut EP (in 2014) and collaborated with Torae, before releasing their follow-up EP, The Ambition.

On the heels of their latest single, “Hologram,” Concept and Rome re-connect for “The Looking Glass” — off the former’s upcoming project Flight Patterns 2 (the sequel to 2012’s album of the same name).

“The Looking Glass” — also featuring the vocal talents of B. Marshall — is an inspiring song about keeping one’s sights on the future, while letting the past let slip from an ever-fading memory. It’s a great lesson in being completely satisfied with the concept of “delayed gratification” and pushing forward, while hurdling through any obstructions which stand in the way.

Hit play after the jump and pre-order Flight Patterns 2 — out August 18th — on iTunes, Amazon or Google Play.
