Living Colour — a rock band prominent in the 80s and 90s — is planning on dropping a new EP called MIXTAPE on September 9. The project will consist of a slew of remakes of Biggie’s “Who Shot Ya?”
The EP is influenced by “the amount of people who die on a daily basis because of gun violence is unacceptable in a civilized society,” according to Vernon Reid, the band’s lead guitarist, where Biggie’s words — loosely intended for Tupac — have taken on a larger meaning as people are being shot bigger, national platform in the 21st century.
The first remix from the project is produced by Andre Betts and features verses from Black Thought, Chuck D, Pharoahe Monch, Prodigal Sunn and Kyle Mansa.
